How can you put your window cleaning company ahead of the competition?

Print E-mail

One simple way is to get you and your staff trained. With the health and safely focused world we live in this can reap massive benefits. Not only will your staff be working safer than ever before (a massive plus itself) but the commercial benefits can be huge also. For example:

Two window cleaning companies go for a new commercial contract. Both are presentable with the latest water fed tech and vans, uniform, etc. Both put in prices for the job which are near enough identical. They are pretty much evenly matched. You could almost flip a coin on who gets the job.

What if you throw another factor into the mix? One of the companies has put their staff through IOSH accredited training and the other has not.... Changes everything doesn’t it.

Water fed pole technology has levelled the playing field, just a few years ago only the larger companies could quote for the big commercial jobs due to access equipment, machinery issues, etc. These types of jobs were out of the reach of the smaller window cleaning firms.

As with any technology, the price has dropped considerably over time any company can now set up and purchase a 72ft water fed pole system cheaper than ever and do the same work as the ‘big boys’. The one area you can gain the upper hand is by training.

The Federation of Window Cleaners now run an IOSH accredited course for members and non-members covering ladder and water fed pole work. This is the only safety course that matters, as you gain a qualification recognised by Health and Safety people across the UK.

The course takes place over one full day. All sides of the window cleaning trade are covered – traditional (inc ladders) and water fed. There is also a hands on section where you can put into practice the tips and tricks learnt throughout the day in the real world situations. At the end of the day participants sit an exam on everything they have learnt. Once passed, the certificate is in the post a few weeks later.

Upcoming course dates (based in South Wales) are:-

Friday 22nd July 2011
Friday 19th August 2011
Friday 16th September 2011
