Breaking News:

Are you ready for Winter?

4 CommentsFriday, 20 October 2017  |  Scott

I hate to sound like a Game of Thrones character but,

Winter is coming...

...and along with it comes frozen pumps, tanks & hoses.

For Window Cleaners, the winter can be a miserable time to be out on the glass, and despite your best efforts to drain excess water from your hoses and insulate your R.O Systems, it can be difficult to winter-proof your equipment.

That's where we step in! We've had a brainstorm here at WCW-HQ to come up with the top ways you can winter-proof your business.

1. Isopropanol

Simply put, using Isopropanol is an inexpensive way to reduce freezing in your storage tank. It doesn't effect the waters TDS reading and some people even use it to help cut through grease and grime on the windows, the alcohol reduces the water tension and so some window cleaners use a capful in their buckets to cut through salt and excess grime/ dirt.  You'll get 3000 Litres of pure water per 5 Litre bottle of Isopropanol and its effective to -3 degrees (celsius)

2. Gloves & Workwear

It's important to look after your businesses best asset - YOU!

Cracked hands and a bout of pneumonia are not exactly conducive to a successful business, keeping yourself in good shape is vital!

Aside from multi-vitamins and a solid pair of Longjohns, there's a few other things that might help.

The SealSkinz® range of water resistant gloves & socks is certainly one range that's worth a look. They have long been an industry favourite and continue to produce lasting water resistant workwear. Unger® is another brand name that is synonymous with high quality equipment and that extends to their workwear. Check out how the gloves match up in the glove guide below.

3. Diesel Cab Heater

If there's one thing that haunts the dreams of Window Cleaners during the winter, its the thought of waking to frosty pipes and frozen pumps. The Diesel Cab Heater protects your van during the night so you can sleep soundly. From caravan owners to long haulage drivers, diesel cab heaters are growing in popularity and are a great option for keeping your equipment from falling victim to the cold.

The Diesel Cab Heater draws fuel from the vehicle tank (don't worry, only a small amount) and kicks in intermittently throughout the night as the temperature drops too low, blowing hot air around the back of your van to stop any freezing without excessively burning through fuel.

4. Hot Water Cleaning Systems

If you were to rank pure water cleaning systems according to most effective, hot water systems would sit comfortably at the top. Whilst carrying a higher price tag, the benefits of using warm water are undeniable (have you ever washed the dishes with cold water?).The warm water reduces the amount of time you spend on each window by helping to cut through the dirt, cobwebs, snail trails and anything else.

What's more, the Phoenix range of Hot Water systems come with an integrated frost stat, meaning before your tank has chance to freeze, warm water is circulated so you never have to wake to a 350 Litre Ice cube chilling the back of your van.

When combined with a Diesel Cab Heater, you get the ultimate protection against the cold combined with next level scrubbing power - a sure fire way to hit the ground running this winter!

Say Hello to The Slick-Connect

Friday, 20 October 2017  |  Scott

We have a brand new product hitting our shelves next week.

Say hello to the Slick-Connect

The Slick-Connect is the first of its kind. Unlike the current fittings on the market, the Slick-Connect is the first Male & Female coupling to be designed specifically for the Window Cleaning industry.

Designed by our friends at EX-CEED Innovations (The company behind the popular UNI-VALVE), The Slick-Connect has been designed to reliably outlast and outperform the HozeLock, Microbore (Series 21) & Series 26 fittings that are the three most popular fittings currently used by Window Cleaners around the country.

We'll be posting a lot of information regarding these fittings over the coming weeks so keep an eye out for that. Until then, here's what you need to know about the Slick-Connect couplings.

  • The tapered sides are designed not to get caught on car tyres, walls and on corners.
  • No More Accidental disconnection
  • Protective covers stop damage to the couplings
  • 6mm & 8mm Hose options

You can pre-order the Slick-Connect Male Fittings HERE

Autumn Update

Friday, 6 October 2017  |  Scott

We've got new Van Mounted Systems, a beacon of light in the brush-head market & a BackPack called Nigel,

All things to look forward to this Autumn - If you haven't already, you can check out our entire products range in our brand new catalogue (Don't have one yet? You can get a copy HERE).

let me run you through our products highlight reel for this Autumn.

The Osmo-Compact

A new development to the tried and tested FaceLift Compact van mounted systems are the Osmo-Compacts.

Designed in much the same way as the classic Compact, but with changes to the shape and size, meaning we now have 225, 325, 425 & 525 Litre variations of the popular DI Systems. The prices and variations can be found below, feel free to give us a call to talk them through any further.

The Phantom Brush

The latest in the FaceLift range of brushes comes with an important difference. The Phantom Brushes are the first in the range to offer high grade DuPont® Bristles.

The Phantom Brushes have been around for just over a month now and the first batch has been our best received brush to date, with both the dual trim and the Hybrid (Horse hair) proving extremely popular.

The Phantom Brush and DuPont® will reliably outlast similar products on the market and will consistently deliver excellent cleaning power. We're predicting it to quickly become a bestseller, but here's the kicker - They're currently on offer!

A premium brush for a less than premium price.

Our beloved Nigel does for backpacks what Henry does for Hoovers.

For many Window Cleaners, the choice of backpack or trolley is one that haunts their dreams.

To us at WCW, the two aren't mutually exclusive.

The backpack is a staple in a water fed window cleaners armoury. With Nigel heading up your portable window cleaning operations, you've got the two options of trolley and backpack tied up into one hard working unit.

The Nigel backpack is a 20 litre unit that comes with fitted wheels, a trolley handle to wheel it around when full, and backpack straps for ease of use when empty.

Oh and did I mention that they're also on offer at the moment!

£89.95 is a great price for a standard backpack, but for a Nigel it's an exceptional price!

Moerman Side Kit

Moerman's recent addition to their traditional tool range certainly catches the eye! The Side Kit is as robust as it is vibrant. But importantly, along with the style comes an equal amount of substance.

Along with the multiple pockets obvious in the product photo, the Side Kit offers a concealed zip pocket to keep cash safe, a magnetic sealing front pocket and quick release clips to easily attach and remove it from your tool belt.

The WCW team are big fans of the new pouch, certainly something to consider next time you're shopping for work wear.

Wagtail High Flyer

The High Flyer is yet another innovative tool from the Wagtail team.

Designed primarily for the rope access market, the High Flyer is designed to be a one handed mop-and-squeegee combination. Of course the signature pivoting handle is what defines that Wagtail product range, however there are a few other innovations that make the High Flyer truly Unique, such as:

  • The Angle of the squeegee head is shallower than traditional squeegees creating less curl-over of the squeegee blade. This gives you defined edges and cuts out the need for additional detailing.

  • The double pivot design means there is constant pressure on the glass. This allows the user to clean large panes without having to bend and strain to maintain pressure on the glass.

You can pick up the Wagtail High Flyer HERE
